The American Beaver make their homes, or "lodges," out of sticks, twigs, and mud in lakes or streams. The inner bark, twigs, shoots and leaves of trees are an important part of the beaver's diet.
Beavers are important in wetlands because they can change a fast growing forest into a pond where many animals may no live.

The Tiger Salamender feeds on small insects and worms. Adults are rarely seen in the open and often live in burrows. Tiger salamanders are almost entirely terrestrial as adults, and usually only return to the water to breed.
Mallard Duck

The Mallard Duck inhabits most wetlands, including parks, small ponds and rivers, and usually feeds by dabbling, or diving to the bottom for food, for plant food or grazing; there are reports of it eating frogs. They do not like to go far from their watery home, and their beaks have a sharp "nail" on the tip which helps them pick through grass to find small prey. Ducks adapt to their environment using their webbed feet to help them wade through the water.
Water scorpions

Water scorpions are not scorpions at all but are a predatory insect found commonly in slow moving water. They have long legs and a thin body and are confused with walking sticks by some people. Water scorpions do have wings and occasionally fly but are seldom seen doing so. They are often found among plants. They cannot breath under water so they take an air bubble under wáter to help. Water scorpions eat small fish, tadpoles, and other small aquatic insects.
